According to chef Marina Gaši, nothing really inspired her to become a cook: it simply happened. When she was little, her parents ran a family restaurant. But when she was 8 years old, her father died and her mom decided to shut the restaurant down. Twenty years passed. Until one day, Marina’s husband Davor brought up the idea of re-opening her family’s restaurant. Marina liked the idea, assuming that her mom would run the kitchen. But when her mom said that Marina had to do it, it became clear that the young chef had to start working on her cooking skills. It wasn’t an easy start. In 2011, Marina began training in her kitchen and developed her own unique cooking style. She replaced the restaurant’s classic à la carte menu for tasting menus with fresh fish and seafood.
In 2011, chef Marina Gaši re-opened her family’s fish restaurant. Quickly, restaurant Marina evolved into a popular address among gourmets. Today, chef Marina runs her family business with her husband and sommelier Davor Buršić. Exclusively cooking with ingredients from the Adriatic Sea, Marina’s culinary creations have been honoured with 90 out of 100 Falstaff points and 3 forks. The menu varies each day: it depends on the season, the weather conditions, what the fishermen catch that day, and on Marina’s mood. The result: daring dishes that never cease to amaze and surprise.
