Chef Takashi Miyazaki started his culinary career at a 5-star hotel in Fukuoka, a city in the southern part of Japan. He trained in fusion teppanyaki cooking and traveled across Japan to learn different regional cuisines. His desire to experiment and re-invent traditional dishes was strong. In 2008, chef Takashi moved from Japan to the Emerald Isle. He opened his celebrated Japanese takeaway called Miyazaki, in the heart of Cork. Three years after this success, he started dreaming of a showcase restaurant for his Japanese food, using the best of Irish seasonal ingredients. This is how Ichigo Ichie, a fine-dining Japanese haute cuisine restaurant was born.
Ichigo IchieCork, Ireland
With restaurant Ichigo Ichie, chef-owner Takashi Miyazaki brings the first kappou-style and kaiseki restaurant to Ireland. With his authentic Japanese haute cuisine, he soon was awarded a Michelin star in the 2019 Michelin Guide for the UK and Ireland. For three years, chef Takashi tempted diners with his small Japanese takeaway before eventually opening his current stylish restaurant in the heart of the city: Ichigo Ichie. The establishment has a moody, industrial feel. A few lucky guests get seats at the small five-seater counter to watch the chef work his magic up-close.
