Aurélian chef Michel has always had a passion for French cuisine from an early age. It was at 15 that he began his studies at the Jean Baptiste Siméon Chardin high school in Gérardmer. He then worked in events where he discovered the profession of catering. After several seasons in different gastronomic restaurants in Corsica and getting passionate about cooking, influenced by great Chefs like Olivier Nasti and Alexandre Couillon, he seeks to open his own restaurant. In 2015 he opened the restaurant A la Chaume de mon Père in memory of his dad who left too early. It flourishes day by day for the sole purpose of pleasing its guests.
The chef cooks and creates different specialties according to the seasons, while favoring local producers: he serves pigeon cooked at low temperature with bluets from the Vosges, munster in cromesquis of hazelnut and emulsion of potato and munster. Another specialty of the house: arctic char confit with garlic and hazelnut butter without forgetting the unique dessert of the stroll in the Vosges forest.
Gérardmer is a flagship town in the Vosges. We take advantage of the snowy slopes for skiing in winter, and the lake for nautical activities in summer. There is no shortage of entertainment throughout the year, starting in January with the fantastic film festival which has existed for over 20 years, cinema meetings at the end of March: cinema meetings, the daffodil festival in April and motorcycle festival "motordays" in May.
When in the area, the crest road is a must visit: a magnificent panorama between Alsace and the Vosges. There is no shortage of corners for beautiful hikes.
