“The Mürztal is a bountiful region for remarkable ingredients”, state Astrid and Andreas Krainer. This unbeatable culinary team works with high creative energy in the kitchen, inspired by the regional and always seasonal products they prefer. In the process, they are often open to ideas that transcend nationality, such as the tasteful symbiosis of Istrian olive oil with Styrian chocolate and Aussee natural crystal salt. Signature dishes include sautéed beef testicles with creamy celery and Johann ham, as well as Styrian pumpkinseed yeast dumplings – tradition and interpretation always inspiringly united!
Hermann Krainer Senior is responsible for the very personal and thoroughly exciting wine selection. Whether starting out with an aperitif of champagne or sparkling apple wine, alcohol-free Verjus Frizzante or homemade Vermouth, one thing becomes immediately apparent: variety is the name of the game. Biodynamic and natural wines also have an important role to play, even as open wines, without which such favourites as the Styrian Junker and other Austrian classics would be sorely missed.
Also in their selection: aged vintages and distinctive bottles from Italy and France. Special juices and a tea selection provide an alcohol-free alternative.
With spaciously designed rooms, this hotel comes highly recommended for spontaneous overnight stays after a fine dinner, as it does for lengthier holiday stays.
