Chef Bjorn Massop and his team welcome you to Villa Ruimzicht! The unique Villa was built in 1853 as the country residence of a wealthy farmer, later it served as a school. Restaurant Lokaal has a regional character with the use of regional products. Here dishes are served according to farm - to - table concept. The Villa has a nice terrace with a view over the special and more than a hundred year old trees. An aperitif, after-drinks or dinner is also possible in the atmospheric BAR. Bjorn Massop, born and raised in Achterhoek, had a dream as a child: to become a chef. After the culinary school he ended up as an apprentice at Het Jachthuis in Hoog Soeren. Under the guidance of chef van den Breemen, he learns boning, filleting and cooking with daily fresh regional products and the basis of his style of cooking was laid. After Het Jachthuis he goes to De Zwetheul ** in Schipluiden. For chef Ridder, continuity, peace and structure are important pillars in the kitchen. With this knowledge in his pocket, Massop seeks further depth in the techniques of classic French cuisine and returns to Het Jachthuis as sous-chef. During this period he takes part in numerous global competitions and in 2008 he won the Jeunes Talents Auguste Escoffier Trophy Benelux and in 2009 reached second place at Jeunes Talents Auguste Escoffier World Trophy. Massop succeeded in becoming sous chef for his 25th birthday, now he wants to be chef at a star restaurant before his 30th birthday. This dream also comes true. At star restaurant Basiliek, chef Jansma gives him the opportunity to become a chef de partie as a kitchen chef. After Basiliek he became kitchen chef at Restaurant de Echoput. In 2017 Massop returns to its roots - back to the Achterhoek - and becomes co-owner of Hotel Villa Ruimzicht.

Villa Ruimzicht stands for Achterhoek, Attention & Craft. It is therefore only logical to take this as the starting point for my kitchen. Together with local farmers, I select the most beautiful seasonal products and translate them into modern, elegant dishes.
Ruimzicht - built in 1853 is best known as a boarding school and later on as a school. Born and raised Achterhoeker soccer coach Guus Hiddink has spent years in the school desks at Ruimzicht.
Kees Hensen bought Villa Ruimzicht in a state of decay in 2007 and renovated it into a contemporary four-star hotel. This includes 42 spacious hotel rooms, restaurants, a cooking studio, a veranda with lounge terrace and various meeting rooms. The starting point was to restore the national monument to its old grandeur and to create contemporary catering concepts that Doetinchem is proud of. It is fashionable, centrally located and has a historic character.
All 42 hotel rooms have their own style and design in which the atmosphere of the historic building is combined with contemporary design. Each room has Wi-Fi, a digital lighting system and modern audio and TV equipment. The stylish shutters also provide a unique play of light.
Life needs to be celebrated! Whether it’s a birthday, a promotion party, a marriage or baptism… In our opinion there’s always a reason for a party..The villa offers you all the ingredients for an unforgettable and spectacular party.
UUTBLOASEN…. In the Achterhoek the clock seems to be running slower. As a tourist you can take a breath and recover. The Achterhoek is a natural environment for anyone looking for peace, nature and provides for endless varied cycle paths. Beautiful views alternate with country houses and castles. This region east of the river IJssel is best known for its many forests, country estates, castles, small rivers and picturesque villages. The population lives in lovely villages or in beautiful historic towns. The small-scale and friendly character makes the region an ideal place to recover. The beautiful nature is perfect for cycling or walking. It is therefore not without reason that the Achterhoek has been voted the best cycling area in the Netherlands!
