Maximilian Lorenz opened his "restaurant Maximilian Lorenz" in 2018 in completely redesigned rooms (formerly "Wein am Rhein") in Johannisstrasse, right next to the wine bar "heinzhermann" - named after his grandfather. A special table in the "maximilian lorenz" is the chef's table, where only a menu of the chef is served: Twelve people can be seated in an intimate setting. A large window to the kitchen allows guests to experience the preparation of the menu up close. The chefs responsible for the individual courses bring the food to the table, explain the dishes and are available to answer guests' questions.

At the age of twelve Maximilian Lorenz looked over the shoulder of master chef Dieter Müller. Since then, the dream of becoming a chef has never let go of him. Born in Bergisch Gladbacher, he therefore began his training in the hotel restaurant "Zur Post" in Odenthal after finishing secondary school and expanded his practical skills in the Cologne restaurants "La Société" and "Maître", in the "Schloss Morsbroich" in Leverkusen, in the "Sonne" in Overath with Eiko Scharfenberger and especially with Dieter Müller in the "Schloss Lerbach". At just 21, the talented youngster took over the "L'Escalier" restaurant in Cologne in 2012, which was already one of the top gastronomic addresses in the cathedral city at the time. Since March 2016, the young top chef has been a member of the Jeunes Restaurateurs. He particularly appreciates the collegial exchange with other young chefs on a gastronomic and entrepreneurial level.
In the new gourmet restaurant "maximilian lorenz", Maximilian Lorenz and chef Enrico Hirschfeld concentrate entirely on local dishes - and develop them into culinary delights. The special: Restaurant manager and sommelier Christoph Gonzalez exclusively serves German wines with the menus and individual courses in the restaurant. In the wine bar "heinzhermann" the guest has an international selection of more than 1,500 good wines in addition to German wines. Maximilian Lorenz's credo: "Aromas that should inspire! We take our guests on a culinary journey that they should remember for a long time. We live this philosophy in the cooking style of a new German cuisine. From the Amuse Bouche to the chocolates - everything is made by ourselves".

In winter, North Rhine-Westphalia skiers make the pilgrimage to Winterberg in the Sauerland, in summer they sail up or down the Rhine on the many guest ships. The theatre landscape in the Ruhr area - in Bochum, Essen, Duisburg and Gelsenkirchen - is particularly varied and the Ruhrtriennale, one of the cultural highlights of the region, is known far beyond its borders.
