In a former barn, which was transformed with an astonishing degree of love and skill into a harmoniously inviting restaurant with an idyllic outdoor dining area, Uwe Machreich, one of the rising stars of the gourmet scene, treats his guests to the ultimate in culinary perfection. With constant reference to the immediate region and abundant use of greens from his own herb & specialty-vegetable garden, Machreich, who learned his craft with the crème de la crème of local cooking legends, pampers foodies and gastro-critics alike – with his 3- to 7-course surprise menus, for example, or with lovingly prepared classics such as veal wiener schnitzel, lights or fried chicken.
Stored in the wine cellar are around 300 different top wines, mainly from Austria, though also unique vintages from abroad as well as carefully selected rarities. Maturing in the beer cellar are several labels including specialties from local beer brewers (Triad Aperitif Beer), while his apple cider and sparkling apple wine taste effervescently light. Alcohol-free alternatives on the menu include regional juices from nearby producers.
Of these there are many: For example, their own driving range and a natural pond ideal for private celebrations. You will find a chef’s table as you will a farm shop (in the cider cellar) with fresh products from local producers and farmers. Every Thursday afternoon, the program includes a cooking course focused on various seasonal themes.
The affectionately nicknamed “humpy world” in the south of Lower Austria, with its picturesque hill country, invites you to set out on leisurely excursions, hikes or bike tours, with many rewarding destinations, such as Krumbach Museum Village.
The region is also part of the “Viennese Alps”.
