Philippe LowetteAfter finishing his culinary studies, chef Philippe earned his stripes in several high-end kitchens, including those of restaurant Saint-Paul, Figaro, Rullingen Castle, and Taratata. After this, Philippe decided it was time for his own establishment. But he never stopped learning: even after the opening of Bistro Philippe, he did an internship at restaurant Jane in order to further refine his culinary style.

Bistro Philippe’s cuisine
At restaurant Bistro Philippe, talented young chef Philippe Lowette serves the finest modern Belgian cuisine. In his culinary creations, Philippe's main focus is always on taste and refinement. With each bite, you can find a touch of classic French cuisine combined with influences from the South and Far East. Diners can choose between a 3- to 5-course dinner. Favourites on the menu include the Norway lobster with kohlrabi, spinach and ponzu, and chicken with chicory, artichoke and sweetbreads. Each dish can be paired with an excellent glass of wine from the extensive wine list.
Alken’s surroundings
Restaurant Bistro Philippe is situated in Alken, in the Belgian province of Limburg. The town is best known for its famous brewery and the Cristal Alken beer. Interesting sights include its many historic castles, churches, chapels and water mills. Outdoor lovers will enjoy leisure park "De Alk" between the river Herk. The Mombeek-valley offers many hiking trails and is perfect for exploring by bicycle as well, thanks to its fabulous cycling routes through the beautiful surroundings.
