Restaurant Fris is situated in the scenic city of Haarlem, a 15-minute car ride from Amsterdam. The kitchen at chef Rick May's modern restaurant offers dishes based on classic French cuisine, fused with global influences. He serves his croissants with duck liver, Ibérico ham, Savora mustard with VOC spices, and fig ice cream as a true treat for the senses. A global perspective is accentuated by the extensive wine list, which includes the best of both the old and new world wines.
With authentic dishes that are easily recognizable, restaurant Fris (meaning “fresh”) has set itself apart from its peers. Fresh, honest, and seasonal produce is only used here, from both their own garden and from reputable suppliers. This name also refers to chef-owner Rick May, who has a fresh perspective on gastronomy. He likes to offer his guests good options and changes his menu every two months. Examples of his cuisine are combinations of langoustine roasted and raw with cucumber and masala spices, creating an exciting whole. Hand-cut beef tartare is given an intense flavour boost by yellow curry sorbet, while watermelon and tomato add extra zest and juicy details.
Restaurant Fris is located in the picturesque city of Haarlem. Within walking distance of the restaurant you will find the Frederikspark, the perfect place to take a nice stroll. A 10-minute walk takes you to the city center, with sights like the historic St. Bavo church and the Teylers museum, displaying wonderful art & science instruments.
