As a true local, chef Jean-Charles Boisumault surely loves his terroir. He has enjoyed solid training at various high-end restaurants, including La Ruelle in Angoulême. After years of refining his cuisine, chef Jean-Charles decided to settle down in Mainxe. Here, he opened his very own restaurant Le Verre y Table, together with his spouse Agathe and his brother-in-law. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long until their restaurant made a name for itself – attracting diners and food connoisseurs from far and wide.

Le Verre Y Table’s cuisine

At restaurant Le Verre Y Table, chef Jean-Charles Boisumault serves two types of cuisine. During the day and on weekdays, he prepares an affordable bistro lunch and a daily menu. On evenings and weekends, you can choose between various (gourmet) menus. His seasonal menus are created with fresh and regionally-grown products such as local meats, trout, sturgeon, vegetables, and snails from small producers in the area. Expect dishes like semi-baked tuna and roast prawns with a summer salad; as well as pork chop, rosemary, baby potatoes, courgettes, and mashed potato and onions. The chef’s specialties include his homemade smoked beef fillet and his (revisited) lemon meringue pie with lemon and yuzu.

You’ll find restaurant La Verre Y Table in Mainxe-Gondeville. Located in the canton of Jarnac, it’s the perfect starting point for exploring the area. You can visit one of the nearby wine cellars or (cognac) distilleries, go to the Musée François Mitterrand, or embark on a scenic trip on the Charente river.
