The Burgstuben Residenz with one of the best star restaurants in Germany, the St. Jacques and a brasserie is located in the middle of Heinsberg, a bit hidden. The new operators, star chef Alexander Wulf and sommelier Ronny Schreiber, have fulfilled their dream of their own restaurant here in 2018 and are implementing a light, modern star cuisine. The two are united by a love of pleasure, professionalism and the fun of experimenting. In the new rooms, they are making their wishes come true: relaxed dining in a relaxed, cordial and open atmosphere, just like among friends. Their overall concept is also a pleasure: Economical but tastefully set tables, comfortable armchairs, a winter garden and a beautiful garden with terrace. A culinary experience consisting of exquisite food and drinks. The direct contact to the kitchen is allowed and expressly desired: the shutters remain open gladly, each guest has eye contact with the cooks and can also sometimes go into the kitchen.

The menus at St. Jaques are characterised by chef Alexander Wulf: his Russian origins and the rather hearty cuisine of his mother inspire him to bring his guests closer to the finer and more filigree side of Russian haute cuisine. His dishes are regional, seasonal, light and above all creative. In summer the cuisine is lighter and Mediterranean, in winter more classic French, but always oriented to what the market has to offer. Rules in the kitchen: lots of olive oil instead of butter, only the freshest fish and crustaceans, no farmed goods, organic vegetables and freshly cut herbs from your own garden. Also the bread is baked in the St. Jacques itself and freshly offered.
This is where most people in Germany live. NRW has long been dominated by coal and steel and is today one of the economically strongest regions in Germany. Many first associate Altbier and Kölsch, Karneval and Ruhrpott with the state - but the Bay of Cologne and the Soester Börde, the Rhine and the Eifel, the Bergisches, Sauer and Münsterland have much more to offer holidaymakers. Cologne is a city of music, art and media, Düsseldorf stands for fashion, the university city of Münster, with its Aasee and Promenade in 2004, has been home to the title of "most liveable city in the world". Other popular excursion destinations include the pretty little town of Detmold in the province of Lippe with its Hermann Monument and Externsteine in the surrounding area, Aachen with its cathedral and the silk weaver town of Krefeld. In winter, NRW skiers make the pilgrimage to Winterberg in the Sauerland, in summer they sail up or down the Rhine on the many guest ships. The theatre landscape in the Ruhr area - in Bochum, Essen, Duisburg and Gelsenkirchen - is particularly varied and the Ruhrtriennale, one of the cultural highlights of the region, is known far beyond its borders.
