The Landgasthof Löwen in Oberopfingen - that's old school, in the most positive sense. Here in the Allgäu, near Memmingen, the traditional business of the Ruhland family has been there for a hundred years. An institution of pleasure that is known far beyond the nearby Memmingen. The young chef Alexander Ruhland is now continuing it - with regional cuisine, which he skilfully combines with international influences.

Alexander Ruhland took over the management of the house from his mother Pia only a few years ago - he was always clear about his calling in the kitchen and consistently pursued it. So he ended his training with star chef Christian Henze in Probstried with the award 'outstanding' and then joined several stations in exquisite establishments under well-known chefs. He worked with Hans Haas in "Tantris", with Romeo Hofer in "Schloss Lautrach" and with Karl Ederer in "Restaurant Ederer". He also mentions Vincent Klink from “Wielandshöhe”.
With respect to the long tradition, but open to the modern: Alexander Ruhland cooks the way the guests in the restaurant and the adjoining Stüble feel. His cuisine is strongly influenced by seasonal and regional influences and comes into its own unadulterated. He cleverly combines them with classic French accents and other elements from around the world.
The record holder with over 1,500 hours of sunshine a year.
The Neckar divides the "Ländle" into the Black Forest and the Swabian Jura. Worthwhile excursion destinations are the beautiful university towns of Tübingen with its medieval townscape and the castle from the 16th century, but also Freiburg with its famous ones "Bächle", the narrow water courses in the alleys of the old town. And then of course Lake Constance! The largest German inland lake, the "Swabian Sea", is popular with cyclists, sailors and hikers. The old border and university town of Konstanz is on the south bank, and the garden and fruit-growing island of Reichenau and the flower island of Mainau can be reached by boat. Not to forget: the beautiful Alsace with the Vosges and the romantic Colmar, the university town of Heidelberg with its many baroque red sandstone houses and of course Stuttgart with the "Old" and "New Castle", the "Wilhelma" Zoo and the Neuen Staatsgalerie.
