Regionality combined with the best from around the world – with this culinary philosophy, the gourmet restaurant of 4-star Hotel Sonnenhof catapulted itself into the crème de la crème of Tyrol’s foremost dining establishments. "Mountains & Sea" is the motto of a refined, diverse 8-course menu, inviting guests on a captivating excursion to the Alps and the sea – individually transformed according to each diner’s personal preferences. Complementary to this, the Wirtshaus treats its guests to fine regional specialties along with an international touch (steaks, fish, beef tartare, lobster, etc.).
Wines are also a vibrant, passionate aspect of this establishment. Of roughly 1100 different wines, their focus is on the best winegrowing regions of Europe – led by Austria and France. Their high standards have been further underscored by recognition from the acclaimed "Meiningers Weinwelt" magazine as “one of the 100 best wine lists in the German-speaking world”. Equally refined is the selection of roughly 70 different champagnes, with connoisseurs appreciating the selection of small, though highly recommendable producers right alongside the major labels. In-house vinothèque, weekly wine seminars.
The idyllic Sonnenhof lies amid fantastic mountain scenery, in summer surrounded by alpine meadows and at the foot of the Füssener Jöchle hiking area, in winter right inside the ski resort and close to some 140 km of cross-country ski trails. This family business in the best sense of the word offers 48 pleasantly spacious rooms and suites with modern lifestyle comforts. Guests can unwind wonderfully in the wellness center featuring an indoor pool, sauna facilities, relaxation rooms with waterbeds, hot tub, wellness garden, vitamin bar as well as fireside lounge. The finishing touches to their regeneration program are provided by the "(edel)weiss ALPIN SPA", with - as the name suggests – edelweiss playing a central role in the form of various oils, wraps and creams.
House guests can participate in wine tastings (in some cases for an additional fee), guided hikes as well as aquacise, while use of all 4 mountain lifts is included free of charge in summer. Particularly popular: a picnic out on the hotel’s own mountain meadow – whether for a hearty breakfast or a lunchtime snack, with delectable specialties from the Sonnenhof kitchen (bookable for 2 or more people). Those wishing to take a "piece of Tannheimer Tal” home with them will find an outstanding product selection in the “Small Shop” at the hotel. The offer is as tempting as it is diverse, encompassing homemade jams, honeys and schnapps along with decorative items, handmade wooden art pieces, jewelry, fine scarves, pillows, bathrobes and towels.
Tannheimer Tal is a year-round holiday region offering a rich variety of sporting and recreational opportunities, most of which begin right outside the Müller family’s own front door. Summer activities include hiking and biking along with swimming, golf and fishing. In winter, a 140 km network of cross-country ski trails, 100 cleared winter hiking paths and 4 small ski areas provide boundless opportunities for alpine skiing, cross-country as well as romantic winter walks. Rewarding excursions take guests to Ehrenberg Castle Museum (25 km), the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau (40 km) as well as a spectacular suspension footbridge known as "Highline 179". Innsbruck, with its historic sights and top shopping addresses, is likewise within quick, easy reach.
2 overnights with two 5-course gourmet menus ("Mountains & Sea" + half board dinner), hike to the hotel's own hut with JRE Patrick Müller, snack, wine degustation and beautiful view of Tannheimer Tal included.
