For almost five years now, Jochen Helfesrieder and his father, Fritz Helfesrieder, are standing behind the stove together. The two agree on everything. Healthy and fresh food is the basis of every good kitchen. If possible, freshly harvested in the region and immediately processed in the kitchen. For the Helfesrieders this applies to every head of lettuce, every vegetable, as well as fish and meat. The purity of a product's own flavour counts and has to be respected and preserved.
Located in the small village of Schmidhofen, the friendly hotel of the Helfesrieder family is known above all for its cuisine far beyond the borders of the Black Forest. The Michelin star-winning cuisine offers regional delicacies, fish dishes from the wild and culinary delights from other countries, sometimes combined in a fascinating way to promise a real firework of the senses.
Junior chef Jochen Helfesrieder not only cultivates the tradition of haute cuisine, but also offers his guests authentic specialities and classics made with high-quality regional products. The service is led by his wife Liza, who - by means of the selected wines- ensures an all around amazing experience in the cosy chic restaurant.
With over 1500 hours of sunshine per year, Baden-Württemberg holds the German record. The Neckar River divides the "Ländle" into the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb. Worthwhile excursion destinations are the beautiful university town of Tübingen with its medieval townscape and castle from the 16th century, and the city of Freiburg with the famous "Bächle", the narrow waterways in the alleys of the old town. And of course Lake Constance! The largest lake in Germany, the "Swabian Sea", is popular among cyclists, sailors and hikers. On the south shore, you can find the old border- and university town of Konstanz. The garden and fruit-growing island of Reichenau and the flower island of Mainau can be reached by boat. Not to forget: The beautiful Alsace with the Vosges and the romantic Colmar, the university town Heidelberg with its many baroque red sandstone houses and of course Stuttgart with the "Old Castle" and the "New Castle", the zoo "Wilhelma" and the "New State Gallery".
