Nestled amid the beautiful landscapes of Almenland Nature Park, “Der Wilde Eder” has developed into one of the most exciting culinary addresses in Styria. JRE Stefan Eder has cooked his way to 2 toques through a refined mix of tradition and innovation, while his wife Eveline Wild (world-champion confectioner in 2001) conjures up fantastic desserts, and not only as a TV chef.

Top chef Stefan Eder and his life partner, world-champion confectioner Eveline Wild, complement one another in truly ingenious ways. Wild’s creativity is underscored not least by her dual honors as “Patissière of the Year 2018” – from Guide Gault Millau as well as renowned gastronomic magazine “Rolling Pin”. In the restaurant, they offer extraordinary regional cuisine featuring the very best ingredients, simultaneously characterized by a cosmopolitan spirit of discovery. The result: “regio-global” delicacies that are as refined as they are creative, dishes that represent a combination of deeply rooted Wirtshaus cooking and an array of international influences. Their specialties include dry-aged ALMO beef, while you should absolutely plan on capping off your meal with one of their heavenly desserts!
The wine list, just as their cuisine, is consciously regional. The very thoughtfully and expertly compiled selection features a number of Styrian vintners, from established names to newcomers. Even when we look beyond Styria, there is a clear orientation towards wines from Austria. The finishing touches are provided by delicate juices, such as a fine homemade herbal lemonade.
In a marvelously scenic setting amid Styria’s Almenland Nature Park, the biggest contiguous area of alpine pastures in Central Europe, this four-star wellness hotel and gourmet restaurant pampers guests with exquisite moments of pure enjoyment. The spa area, which includes a panoramic indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, steam bath, bio sanarium and numerous soothing treatments, massages and baths, invites you to unwind completely. Rooms in all categories as well as the Panorama Suite are distinguished by every conceivable modern comfort.
In their “Chocolate Paradise”, where you can sample and buy tempting pralines and chocolates created by world-champion confectioner Eveline Wild, sweet-tooths quickly find themselves floating on Cloud 9. Their guests are also offered baking courses, as well as grilling and cooking classes taught by 2-toque chef Stefan Eder himself. Aside from sweet (chocolatey) souvenirs, in their shop you will also discover homemade floral and herbal essences as well as rowanberry-and-pear mustard, Williams-pear rosemary, sweet & sour pickled damsons and a quince herbal ragout.
This small, family-run 4-star hotel in the heart of Almenland Nature Park is an ideal base for a wide range of excursions. Flanked by boundless natural beauty, the region provides a picturesque backdrop for guided herb hikes, tours to such places as the Dragon’s Cave and the local Heritage Museum, as well as hikes and many other outdoor sporting activities. Visits to the manufacturies of dedicated artisans add to the diversity of holidays spent here: from a vinegar producer and distillery, to a beekeeper’s as well as the cheese dairy where “Almenland Stollenkäse” is made.
