Restaurant 't Pakhuus is a 16th century Zaans grain warehouse that has been completely rebuilt in the harbour of Oudeschild.
Upon entering, the moss wall and the homarium, which are specially designed for 't Pakhuus, immediately catch your eye. As the only specialized fish restaurant on the island, 't Pakhuus offers a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood, often caught locally in the Wadden Sea and the North Sea. Chef Boy Schuiling was brought up with the love for the hospitality industry. At a young age, he starts working as a dishwasher at a beach pavilion on Wadden Island Texel. However, the kitchen is calling him and after a while he moves up to kitchen help. "Here I have learned to step up. Especially during peak season, it’s hard work." He wants to improve his skills and decides to enrol in culinary school. The last two years of his training he gets to work as an independent cook at restaurant Rebecca in De Waal. His first place of work with a Bib Gourmand. After graduation, he starts working at the Michelin-Starred restaurant Bij Jef in Den Hoorn. At the same time, he trains to become a specialised restaurant chef. Schuiling wants to invest in the future. From beach pavilion to Michelin-Starred restaurant and on to his own business. And that dream comes true.. On March 1, 2015 he opens his own restaurant: Restaurant 't Pakhuus. Six months after opening, his partner Felicia Siebert also joins the team as a hostess. Together they successfully run 't Pakhuus.
Fish lovers can indulge themselves in 't Pakhuus; the menu offers a variety of fresh fish and seafood, mostly from the North and Wadden Sea. Outright spectacular is the fruit de mer, which is served with dry ice for an extra special effect. The meat-eaters are not forgotten either: depending on the season, the restaurant always offers a selection of beautiful meat dishes such as the famous Texel lamb.
Fish restaurant 't Pakhuus is suitable for groups up to 90 people, but it's also a great location for a wedding.
Regularly, a special situation occurs in the port of Oudeschild: high tide. Under the influence of spring tide and a fierce Northwest storm, 't Pakhuus is surrounded by water. Every now and then, ‘t Pakhuus organizes a "high-water dinner", where you can see the water rise and fall during dinner: a truly unique experience!
't Pakhuus is located at the fishing port in Oudeschild. In the 17th century, this village had international significance thanks to the Rede van Texel.. Many VOC ships departed from here. At that time, the village experienced a glorious period, partly because the ships stocked provisions in Texel.
