Croatia
Croatian cuisine differs vastly from region to region, as everywhere in the country has its own distinct culinary identity. If we compare the mainland to the coast, for example, the selection of ingredients and techniques for preparing food are miles apart. Mainland cuisine is Slavic in origin whilst also being shaped by Hungarian, Viennese and Turkish infulences. The coastal region, however, has Greek, Roman and Illyrian roots, later drawing inspiration from Mediterranean cuisines, such as Italian and French.
