The Marigold in Lochau near Lake Constance (Vorarlberg) is a family restaurant run by Andrea and Michael Schwarzenbacher and one of the culinary highlights of the Bregenz area.
Though with a very traditional exterior, this restaurant actually reveals itself as a harmonious fabric woven both from heritage and innovation. Guests dine in the comfortable, historical ambience of the Wälderstube with its antique panelling and tile stove, in the elegantly Mediterranean ambience of the Rossini, or in the green winter garden bathed in natural sunlight. Other spaces for epicurean enjoyment: the bar and wine corner, Tisch 17 as a separate room for small gatherings, as well as a romantic garden in the inner courtyard.

Michael Schwarzenbacher is a chef who is definitely a diners’ favourite. He possesses the ability to take regional ingredients – also including some from neighbouring Southern Germany – and prepare dishes that feature traditional colour on the one hand, whilst being shaped by his very personal innovative powers on the other.
Familiar recipes, contemporary lightness and assured culinary craftsmanship result in harmonious dishes, often also with a Mediterranean touch. The foundation for these is always top-quality products, be they fish from Lake Constance or Krumbach pork, lamb from Bizau or Montafon lamb.
Andrea Schwarzenbacher is a charming host as well as a well-versed wine expert. For the perfect companion wine, she has a wine menu of over 300 labels to choose from. Austria is represented by outstanding and very exciting names, as are some of the most important European wine regions, including Riesling from Germany, Burgundies in white and red, and also fine wines from Spain.
Other Highlights: Excellent champagne and aperitif selection, along with a complement of alcohol-free beverages that include homemade syrups, some with an exotic touch such as spiced pear and pickled plum, as well as an assortment of fine teas.
The Mangolf kitchen also produces many items guests can take with them: a veal glace and white-wine sauce, curry paste and Asia marinade for making the perfect culinary impression in your own kitchen; homemade ketchup from organic tomatoes, potted black walnuts, a quince jelly, mango & mustard jam as well as milk caramel. An alcohol-free fruit cocktail is also mixed in-house.
Bregenz is within just a few minutes’ reach, a popular cultural destination and home to a world-famous festival.
