For many years, Landhaus Bacher has been one of Austria’s top addresses. Head chef Thomas Dorfer, one of the great visionaries of top Austrian cuisine, has a masterful ability to lend country-style cooking a contemporary and often even avant-garde character.
Familiar dishes with deep culinary roots acquire a new dimension. Individual creations that reflect the passage of the seasons thrive upon special ingredients, especially those plucked from the world of vegetable rarities – a point of particular emphasis in his vegetarian menu! “Regional” is important, but not exclusively so: His thoroughly exciting dishes rightly belong to the international elite, whilst still managing to honour their Austrian roots.
It isn’t only the kitchen that enjoys an excellent reputation extending far beyond Austria’s borders: The wine list, too, is one of the most outstanding in the entire country. The wealth of famous labels from the Wachau and Bordeaux regions stored in the cellars is practically legendary.

Organic mattresses provide exceptional sleeping comfort, while the splendid breakfast with all kinds of homemade specialities is as appealing as can be, also supplying all the energy needed for an extended expedition through the Wachau region. Under their own label, a number of fine foods are produced right here in-house, all of which can be purchased direct or ordered online. Their signature jam is made, of course, from Wachau apricots, serving as the benchmark for many. Also in their selection: sauces from fish to wild game, veal stock, mustard, walnut schnapps made from nuts out of their own garden. The shop also sells the Landhaus Bacher Cookbook.

Wachau is a UNESCO World Heritage Region located about one hour west of Vienna. It is one of the most striking, and also oldest cultural landscapes in Austria, home to historical towns and villages, and a wealth of art-historical treasures.
