Restaurant Bentinck is located in the former stables of the historic estate around Amerongen Castle. The restaurant is housed in one of the best preserved historical stable interiors in the Netherlands. Absolute eye-catchers are, besides the authentic interior of the stable, the tapestry of artist Claudy Jongstra and the wine room in the old tack room. Chef Tommy Janssen gets his inspiration in the kitchen from the seasons of the historic castle vegetable garden, spices from the Far East and regional products from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. After high school, Peter-Paul Swijnenburg goes to the Hotel Management School in Leeuwarden. As a side job, he works for a catering company and caters large events. He likes the catering business and after his education he starts working at Grand Catering in Nieuwegein. Here, he gains experience in the organisation and logistics of food events. Hard work and long days are the core business of the catering world. After 5 years, he becomes location manager of the Beatrixtheater in Utrecht under the banner of Grand Catering. This is very large and demanding client who receives more than 2000 guests daily. Everything revolves around delegation, quality and the logistical process. He experiences that, as a manager - if you want to develop and implement a sound business strategy - you need to have a helicopter view. Swijnenburg is ready for the next step in his career and wants to have his own business. Together with his wife Erika, he starts the event location Buitenplaats Amerongen in 2006. In 2016, he opens event location Buitenplaats Sparrendaal in Driebergen. A year later they successfully expand, leading to the opening of Restaurant Bentinck in 2017.

Chef Tommy Janssen and his team cook with fresh high quality ingredients. Fruits, vegetables and herbs harvested from the historic vegetable garden on the castle grounds play a key role in the dishes coming out of the Bentinck kitchen.
Maître Arnoud Pot and sommelier Jan-Jaap Altenburg, together with their team, ensure a truly hospitable welcome and extraordinary wine-food combinations. The wine list is compact and focuses on local wines from Dutch soil.
Bentinck offers various possibilities for private dining, such as the spectacular chef’s table overlooking the kitchen.
The wine room - the former tack room - is the charming historical backdrop for gatherings such as tastings, possibly led by the house sommelier.
Buitenplaats Amerongen, the country estate around Amerongen Castle where Bentinck is located, is a beautiful place for meetings, (company) events, private parties and weddings. The culinary product of restaurant Bentinck can be served to groups of up to 150 people.
