Ombretta Giovannini

A talented owner-chef who conjures up traditional Italian cuisine

Ombretta Giovannini is chef at restaurant La Leggenda dei Frati. After completing her culinary studies, Ombretta worked in restaurants in Italy as well as abroad. After returning to Italy, she opened the fine-dining establishment in Firenze in 2002, together with her partner, chef Filippo Saporito, and his brother Nicola Saporito. At Ombretta, you'll find traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist. Honoured with a prestigious Michelin star, the chef prepares dishes that are creative, contemporary and terroir-based, drawing gourmets from near and far.

Restaurant La Leggenda dei Frati is named after the legend of three friars, who had gathered the best sprouts from their garden. Meeting in the Abbadia Isola abbey in Siena on a summer night, they ate and drank so much that they started singing and dancing.
