At restaurant Rüssels Landhaus, you will be able to experience genuine German cuisine that has an unmistakable regional touch. Gourmet guide Gault Millau has awarded Rüssels Landhaus 17 out of 20 possible points in its German edition since 2008 and a coveted Michelin star soon followed. This dining spot is one of the five best restaurants in Rhineland-Palatinate and one of the top 30 in the entire country. Specialties on the menu include the delicious confit brook trout with cauliflower, salted lemon, caviar, and crayfish stock; and the roe deer with oat root, carrot, porcini mushrooms, and sloe jus. Each dish can be perfectly paired with an excellent glass of wine from the extensive wine list, to complete your gastronomic experience.
The region of Rheinhessen, Pfalz and Mittelrhein is one of the most important wine-growing regions of the whole republic, drawing many wine lovers each year. Old and steeped in history, the towns of Mainz and Trier, Worms and Speyer were constructed in Roman times or the Middle Ages and contain many interesting sights. In nearby Idar-Oberstein an der Nahe, near Hainich and Palatinate, the densely wooded areas of the Rhineland-Palatinate offer great hiking opportunities with various hiking trails. You will possibly even spot some wild deer, foxes, and other animals, while you enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the picturesque landscape.
