Crafting a Blueprint for a Greener, Eco-Friendly Wine Culture

Manifesto - A Toast to a Sustainable Tomorrow

Let's toast to Sustainability, one Bottle at a time!

JRE, together with significant figures from the gastronomy and business sectors, has the potential to drive progress towards a brighter future that goes beyond just gastronomy, encompassing our environmental responsibilities and global sustainability. During the JRE congress in April 2024, a historic manifesto 'A Toast to a Sustainable Tomorrow - Crafting a Blueprint for a Greener, Eco-Friendly Wine Culture' was endorsed. Signatories committed to developing a lighter wine bottle in the future. The project was supported by the international partner, Vaider Group, a global business partner in the design and production of premium glass packaging at Hrastnik 1860 glassworks.

Crafting a Blueprint for a Greener, Eco-Friendly Wine Culture

Glass holds a vital position within society and the wine industry in particular, serving as the primary vessel for the packaging and serving of wine. Glass boasts high reusability, enhancing the process involves reducing overall glass consumption, thereby mitigating its environmental footprint.

As role model, we pledge our dedication to fostering a greener wine culture. Our commitment involves pioneering a bottle design that markedly diminishes our carbon footprint. We aim to cultivate partnerships with influential stakeholders within the industry, empowering us to champion the transition towards a more sustainable wine culture.

Lighter bottles, reduced carbon footprint

Glass, while eco-friendly, can be heavy on our planet. Our manifesto calls for lighter wine bottles to cut carbon emissions. Introducing our solution: a bottle design slashing 20% of traditional glass usage. Rethinking Wine Bottles for a Greener Tomorrow!

Lighter bottles symbolizing excellence and accountability

The aim of the manifesto is to inspire the entire wine industry to change beliefs and practices towards the conscious use of lighter bottles. The aim is for 'lightness' to become synonymous with 'responsibility', towards nature, and the well-being of future generations.

The wine culture involves each and every one of us

The manifesto reaches out to all stakeholders in the wine community: consumers, enthusiasts, journalists, winemakers, producers, distributors, industry experts, and restaurateurs. Only through collective effort can we forge a sustainable wine culture - a shared responsibility that holds promise for the future.

The support of the manifesto by highly recognized and esteemed figures in the wine sector is evidence of its importance and potential impact. Packaging must both protect and highlight the content. The bottle is thus a blend of function and aesthetics, which can elevate the overall experience of the end user to an even higher level.
