Chiel de Groot is owner and chef at restaurant Amused. At the young age of 25, Chiel could already call himself a chef after finishing his culinary studies, partly under top chef Theus de Kok. In 2017 he decided to open his own restaurant. At restaurant Amused, Chiel conjures up exquisite modern French cuisine. He strives to provide his guests with the best ambiance and food experience possible, drawing food lovers from near and far.

Fresh local vegetables are an important element on the menu of Amused – they’re even cultivated in the restaurant’s own vegetable garden and play the starring role in the kitchen. Diners can choose from a 4-, 5-, 6- or 7-course menu, with the best matchings of excellent wines from all around the world, carefully selected by the restaurant’s sommelier.
Chef Chiel de Groot's kitchen is synonymous with creativity and quality. The menus emphasize home-grown vegetables from the restaurant’s own vegetable garden so much that they represent the core focus on the menus. Every single flavour is well-balanced with a contemporary French cooking style. One of Chiel's signature dishes is the open ravioli with scallop, celeriac and morel mushrooms. This dish represents the perfect harmony of flavours where freshness, earthy flavours and experience all come together harmoniously. A natural feel is a significant feature of the cuisine at Amused restaurant. The wine list perfectly combines each dish with the finest wine, with many options from a big variety of international labels.
Situated on the river Vechte, restaurant Amused gives its diners a breathtaking view of the harbour of Hardenberg. On the lounge terrace on the water, you are invited to relax with a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a cup of coffee. The walking path at Amused is part of the famous Pieterpad. This long-distance walking route leads you along the beautiful banks of the Vecht. Interesting sights in the area include 't Stadhuus Vechtdalmuseum, where you can learn about the history of the Vecht area.
