The cuisine at restaurant Špacapanova hiša is based on high-quality Karst ingredients that are mostly homegrown and produced. Fresh environmental-friendly and organic ingredients are sourced at nearby farms. Chef Ago Špacapan and his team believe in the power of nature and tradition. That is why he produces traditional Karst products using the oldest techniques that have been tested and improved for centuries. Restaurant Špacapanova hiša embraces a simple philosophy: high-end cuisine can only be made from the best ingredients. In the basement of Špacapan hiša, the restaurant has its very own prosciutto and salami ripening room. Here you will also find a cheese ripening space, a wine shop, and a space for the processing of wine and spirits.
Restaurant Špacapanova hiša is located in Komen, close to Trieste, Portopiccolo, Sistiana, the Miramar & Štanjel castles, Grado, Trieste airport, and the Vilenica cave. The Karst region is an untouched land of stone, Teran wine, and prosciutto. Cycling and hiking trails lead to nearby caves, Teran wine tastings, historic castles, and churches. The area also offers excellent spots for hunting, fishing, and many more outdoor activities.
