Armin, the father, and son Alexander Gründler make for a strong kitchen duo, one which, over the years, has harnessed regional competence to achieve gourmet status. Highest possible demands with respect to quality are the foundation for their “Alpine Gourmet Cuisine”, with classical recipes providing the driving force behind dishes that are rich in variety and filled with aroma intensity.
Achensee Merino Lamb and fish fresh out of the lake are presented as deftly as squab with goose liver or winter cod. With a multi-course vegetarian menu, diners preferring a meat-less experience can also savour the prospect of exciting culinary creations.
The “Cuvée Alpin”, produced in cooperation with Jagdhof winery in Burgenland, points to the high standing enjoyed here by domestic wines. Though for sommelière and restaurant manager Caroline Gründler, top international wines also occupy a rightful place on her 150-label, steadily growing wine list.
With a selection of sherries and ports as well as top wines in half-bottles, she demonstrates how committed she is to offering exciting choices in all areas. Fine spirits are supplied by a nearby Achensee distillery, while Zillertal beer, local grape juice and South Tyrol apple juice also add to the selection.
The latest remodelling project turned the Alpin into a stylish hotel with a very family atmosphere. Spacious rooms and suites with a culinary theme, all with balcony and scenic views either of the Rofangebirge mountains or Lake Achensee, feature contemporary comforts with modern, elegant amenities, desk and WiFi. After a long day of hiking or skiing, the remodelled “Alpinaria” wellness area promises reenergising relaxation. And let us not forget the idyllic hotel garden for lasting moments of peaceful reflection.
The hotel has put together particularly attractive packages that include “Gourmet Days” and “Active on Achensee”.
Growing in the large herb garden next to the terrace are numerous kitchen herbs, some of which are used fresh, while others are used to create pesto, herbal oils and herbal pastas. Hay-blossoms are harvested from flower-strewn meadows next door in order to produce homemade syrup. In cooperation with sheep breeder Peter Moser, the project “Achensee Merino Lamb” was born; the dairy products, too, come from area farmers.

The region which surrounds Lake Achensee offers a variety of opportunities for outdoor sports.
In summer: sailing, wind surfing, diving, golf at Pertisau Golf Club; enchanting lakeshore hiking paths, and ferries for your return home; mountain hikes in the Rofan or Karwendel ranges, outings to the Eng Alm, rides on the historical Achensee rail line from Jenbach to Eben.
In winter: the Rofan, Karwendel and Christlum mountain lifts all carry you quickly and comfortably straight up to our local ski areas.
