Trough the last century, Hiša Franko has changed a lot of roles. The legend says that Ernest Hemingway was hurt on Isonzo Front and he is supposed to be cured in our house. In one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard, he was writing his famous novel »Farwell to the arms«. But certainly, Hiša Franko was a roadside inn, a village mill, a big countryside estate, a hospital during the First World War, a huge agricultural estate, and finally Hiša Franko today, which refuses to be a classical hotel or a fine dining restaurant. Ana Roš is a Slovenian chef, a sport and travel enthusiast from a young age, graduated in international and diplomatic science in Italy, polyglot, and much more. She has been awarded the world's best female chef in 2017 by the Restaurant magazine. She is a self-taught cook and with her cuisine, she wants to express the seasons, the locality, her own character, her travels, and femininity.

Wild herbs, flowers, apples, chestnuts, nuts, all kinds of mushrooms collected only in their best period, in their season. Served in my dishes on the same day, make our guests live the emotion of the season and of the territory: freshness!!! Ice cold emerald waters of our rivers are the best possible habitat for high-quality trouts. My compliments to Loredana and her colorful teas composed of wild herbs and flowers, perfect for every moment of the day.
Hiša Franko is a beautiful countryside house&estate with three generations living on different floors. Behind a house, there is a huge herb, flower, and vegetable garden, beside it you can hear a lively creek, home to our small family of trouts.
The Soča valley is a paradise destination: turquoise wild waters, green natural pools of a warm Nadiža river, almost tropical forests, and flowering pastures. Endless peace and quiet. Walks, hikes, mountain and road biking, hunting and fishing (fly fishing), paragliding, rafting, canyoning, rivering, outdoor, and indoor museums. Very close to the most important Slovenian wine-growing region (Goriška Brda).
The heart of my collection today are biodynamic wines, some labels are difficult to find and are true jewels. My wine selection does not depend on fashion but only on my conviction and my love for nature.
