Nestled in 80 hectares of wood and meadows, the Domaine du Châtelard is an 18th century manor house, overlooking a private lake, where you receive an authentic and easy-going welcome as though you were at home. Our 11 charming rooms were developed in keeping with the history of the house, each with its own décor. The owners, Pascale and Ivan, moved in with the aim of respecting the nature which proceeded them in this Natura 2000 certified site. They warmly welcome their guests in this peaceful setting, where time stands still, allowing them to benefit from a unique environment with all the mod cons. Ivan, the chef treats the guests to produce from the estate, from Charente and from elsewhere; this gives rise to surprising combinations full of finesse.

Ivan, originally from Denmark, took his chef’s apprenticeship in Fribourg, Switzerland in the starred restaurant La Fleur de Lys. After having worked in several different establishments in Switzerland, he took the title of Head Chef at the Kempinski Grand Hôtel des Bains, a 5 star hotel in St Moritz with 6 restaurants. He oversaw the opening of several top class restaurants throughout Europe, then came back to Switzerland to the Grisons at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel as Head Chef. The cosmopolitan cuisine of this Danish chef, who has spent his entire career abroad, consists of dishes with an Italian flair, all served with Swiss precision and always showcasing the best local produce.

The gourmet restaurant of the Domaine du Châtelard welcomes you all year round: in winter in a warm dining room around the fireplace and in summer on a wonderful terrace overlooking the private lake of the property. Ivan, the chef, originally from Denmark, is a member of the JRE network (Young Restaurateurs - a European young chef association).
