Situated at the end of a narrow pedestrian street in the heart of the village of La Jarrie, you’ll discover a beautiful Japanese garden that leads up to restaurant l'Hysope. Here, the kitchen is in hands of chef Nicolas Durif. Over the years, Durif's refined cuisine has been rewarded with numerous awards: Its innovative and seasonal dishes have been awarded a Michelin star and 2 toques, 13.5 points and the 2017 Trophée Espoir Nouvelle Aquitaine from Gault Millau. The restaurant’s décor is contemporary, warm, and elegant. This fine-dining location offers you all the tranquility you need to enjoy the chef’s sophisticated gastronomy. You can also dine and wine on the terrace in the surrounding Japanese garden if the weather allows it.

Chef Nicolas Durif’s nouvelle cuisine is inspired by the area’s sea and soil. He only works with fresh and hand-picked seasonal produce, such as vegetables and herbs sourced from local market gardeners, and fish from La Rochelle's fish market or the local auction. At restaurant l’Hysope, you can choose between three ever-changing menus: the Tasting menu, the Voyage menu, and the Aparté menu. The dishes can only be discovered on-site. Expect options like duck foie gras, sweet and sour black radish and apricots, reduction of Pineau des Charentes with horseradish, red fruits condiment, and green pepper anchovy donut. Chef Nicolas’ generous menu is beautifully complemented by an eclectic yet well-assembled wine list.

Restaurant l’Hysope is located in the village of La Jarrie, within 8 kilometers of the city of La Rochelle. Next to its beaches on the Atlantic coast, La Rochelle offers plenty to see and do. A few interesting sights include Vieux Port (fortified seaport on the Bay of Biscay), the Aquarium of La Rochelle, and the Towers of La Rochelle. Sports enthusiasts will love the nearby Île de Ré as it’s the ideal place for sailing, surfing, horse riding, tennis, and cricket.
