On one of Austria’s sunny valley plateaus lies hotel and gourmet restaurant Sonnhof. This family-run establishment in the Pongau district was founded in 1929. Today, it is run by multi-award-winning chef Vitus Winkler and his wife Eva-Maria Gumpenberger. Vitus’ contemporary creations earned him 4 toques, 4 hoods from Gault Millau, and 4 stars from À La Carte. In the restaurant you’ll find a beautiful, dark-paneled dining room that dates from chef Vitus’ great-grandmother‘s era. The antlers on the wall have also been able to withstand the test of time and showcase the Winkler family’s passion for hunting. Sonnhof restaurant features a modern bar, as well as a small and bright dining room with panoramic windows that offer you a gorgeous view of Pongau’s mountains.
