Christoph Hunziker

Born in the municipality of Schüpfen, Chef Christoph Hunziker is a down-to-earth, natural and honest chef who is proud and humbled to be running a successful restaurant in his hometown. Christoph honed his craft working with top restaurateurs in the Bernese Oberland, but also through his passion for competitions, which he continues to take part in to this day. He has twice taken part in the Golden Chef and four times in the Swiss elimination for the Bocuse d'Or, winning twice which allowed him to take part in the Bocuse d'Or Europe and Lyon. After his apprenticeship, he completed both dietary chef and gastronomy chef courses and gained recognition for his academic and professional career with a diploma as a fully certified chef.

Opened in 2014, Beizli is the achievement of a dream that owners Christoph and Sarah Hunziker had from the moment they took over the Schüpbärg-Beizli Inn. At 675m above sea level, the gourmet restaurant is only 15 minutes from Bern and also within easy reach of Biel. Chef Christoph Hunziker spoils his guests with exclusively regional and seasonal dishes and runs the restaurant with the motto "Not simply good - but the simple particularly good.”
